Well, Little Magic Rainbow, You Had Quite a Run

So, the Magic Rainbow That Could just celebrated it's 20th and final week on the Billboard Hot 100 at #53, officially breaking Kelly's record for coronation song with the longest run on the Hot 100 chart.

After 20 weeks, songs are "retired" from the Hot 100 and moved to the recurrent charts, which is basically the chart for songs that refuse to die.

We are only 67 thousand sales away from having Platinum Rainbows ;)

Kelly's other record (best selling coronation song) is so going down!!

Not that I'm competitive or anything...

ETA: Ooops! I was wrong. Kelly doesn't hold the record for best selling coronation song. That title belongs to Clay. (He was treated as co-winner, remember?)

So here are the standings:

TOML Total Sales To-date: 933,212

Needed to pass Kelly: 40,788

Needed to pass Clay: 60,788

Needed for Platinum: 66,788

So, TOML would also be the first one to go Platinum! =)

It is truly a magical rainbow. I never imagined this song would do as well as it has.

BTW what's was Kelly's sales number on "A Moment Like This"? I can't recall.

I like David and Kelly on the same level, actually (which you can take on any sort of the spectrum as to how I like them :) They're both my favorite overall winners of AI). I'll admit they cater to different audiences so it isn't fair to compare them.

Still, if TOML actually went platinum, that would be awesome!
